چکیده

Abstract Understanding seed moisture desorption and adsorption isotherms is important for quality maintenance better predicting storage lifespan. Freshly harvested oilseed rape barley seeds were dried then rehydrated twice. Seed equilibrium relative humidity (eRH) content (MC) determined at different levels so that two cycles of could be constructed. In addition, to 30% RH 50% five determine whether they shift the isotherm. Monolayer MC was using Gugenheim-Anderson-de Boer model. Storage experiments conducted equilibrated 30, 40, 50, 60 70% 45°C. Isotherm curves’ shapes similar barley, although spanning a greater range in barley. The hysteresis effect observed when over silica gel <10% RH. However, this only RH, but not seeds. Longevity adsorbing than desorbing given eRH, however, there no significant difference σ (the standard deviation normal distribution deaths time)–MC log–log relationship. relationship shifted on second cycle. conclusion, if lots are stored specific reaching by or can strongly influence their longevity. Also, species low will respond differently subsequent increase which profoundly affect

Mutant alleles at the rugosus loci in pea affect seed moisture sorption isotherms and the relations between seed longevity and moisture content.

Pea (Pisum sativum L.) mutant near-isogenic lines (RRrbrb, rrRbRb, rrrbrb) with lower starch but higher lipid contents, brought about by lesions in the starch biosynthetic pathway, had seed moisture sorption isotherms displaced below that of the wild type (RRRbRb). The negative logarithmic relationship between seed longevity and seed storage moisture content (%, f.wt basis), determined in herme...

A role for seed storage proteins in Arabidopsis seed longevity

Proteomics approaches have been a useful tool for determining the biological roles and functions of individual proteins and identifying the molecular mechanisms that govern seed germination, vigour and viability in response to ageing. In this work the dry seed proteome of four Arabidopsis thaliana genotypes, that carry introgression fragments at the position of seed longevity quantitative trait...

Seed germination and seedling growth of two Pseudobombax species (Malvaceae) with contrasting habitats from Brazilian Cerrado.

Pseudobombax tomentosum and P. longiflorum are common trees in the Cerrado region, but the former species is more common in forest edges while the later is present in open cerrado areas. This work aimed to investigate differences in seed germination and seedling growth in these species, from seed collected from Cerrado areas in Central Brazil. For this, a seed germination experiment was designe...

Galactinol as marker for seed longevity.

Reduced seed longevity or storability is a major problem in seed storage and contributes to increased costs in crop production. Here we investigated whether seed galactinol contents could be predictive for seed storability behavior in Arabidopsis, cabbage and tomato. The analyses revealed a positive correlation between galactinol content and seed longevity in the three species tested, which ind...

Burial increases seed longevity of two Artemisia tridentata (Asteraceae) subspecies.

PREMISE OF THE STUDY Seed longevity and persistence in soil seed banks may be especially important for population persistence in ecosystems where opportunities for seedling establishment and disturbance are unpredictable. The fire regime, an important driver of population dynamics in sagebrush steppe ecosystems, has been altered by exotic annual grass invasion. Soil seed banks may play an activ...
